- Abstract:
- Hygienic disposal of organic wastes by vermicomposting is an environmentally sound and economically viable technology resulting in the production of organic fertilizer. Hence, the experiment was carried out at Lume district under small shade to determine the effect of varying feeding materials of vermin-worms on some selected nutrient quality of vermin-compost during the 2019 fiscal year. Feeding materials of paunch manure alone, cattle manure alone, paunch manure with wheat straw, cattle manure with wheat straw and paunch manure with cattle manure and wheat straw were used and mixed in 8:4:1 ratio. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete design with three replications. Shallow wood boxes with a dimension of 0.4m height, 0.6m width and 1m length were constructed for vermicompost production. The bedding materials were mixed in. Then 11kg of partially digested bedding material was weighed into the boxes and 300 numbers of red worms (Eisenia fetida) were introduced in to each treatment. The analysis of variance revealed that feeding materials of vermiworms had a highly significant (pdustries around Lume District to be used as feeding materials of vermicompost and produce organic fertilizer for crop production and make disposal environmentally friendly.
